Frequently Asked Questions
InterestED in Starting, but have a few questions?
Here are some of our most frequently asked questions by teachers and school administrators. Please reach out to us with additional questions via email.
How many schools have tried this program?
Skate in School has a proven track record of success in more than 2,000 schools nationwide with more than 8 million students introduced to inline skating.
Who created this program?
Our Skate in School program was developed by Rollerblade® and the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NAPSE). This program was developed with NASPE’s new physical education initiatives to boost youth fitness and self-esteem, and emphasizes the development of lifelong physical activities.
Will Skates damage the gym floors?
No, with proper use, Rollerblade® skates will not mark gym floors. All skates ordered through the Skate in School program are high-quality and come with special brakes pads and non-marking flush hardware that will not harm gym floors.
Where can our students skate?
Indoors in gyms and outside in parking lots, tennis courts or nearby paved paths.
If PE Teachers do not know how to inline skate, can you help us get started?
Yes. We can arrange an in-service session, using a certified instructor from your area. This a great way for your teachers to learn how to inline skate, how to teach inline skating skills, get some gear maintenance tips and properly launch the program. A half-day in-service for up to 15 of your teachers is $500, plus expenses. (If you have a larger group than 15, we charge $35 for each additional person.)
Why should we buy skates instead of renting them?
Rollerblade® inline skates are high-quality skates and last longer than others. It simply makes financial sense to do a one-time investment and buy skates instead of asking for funding every year for a rental program. In addition, if your school owns the equipment, teachers can use the skates anytime throughout the year for in-school, afterschool and summer programs.
How do we maintain the equipment?
